As you know, my beloved Abooksigun passed away in May, just a few months shy of his fifth birthday. I knew he had a congenital defect...there's a big fancy name for it but basically his diaphragm had a hole in it and some of the organs that are supposed to be below the diaphragm were above it. Today was my birthday. Overall I had a good day. My parents are in town and took me shopping. I made out like a bandit. Their birthday present to me was a very nice GPS. Today my bad little monkey passed away. I don't know what happened.

He never knew he was a cat. He thought he was a child. He had the loyalty of a dog. He was my friend and companion, not my pet.

How do you deal with a day that no longer has significance? A day that now only means loss.
