CeCe was enjoying being back at school. She had missed it. As much as being at home with the fam for the hols was brill, it got boring after awhile. She missed the castle and the people in it. Well... most of the people. But she wasn't going to talk about that or think about that. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. And all that jazz

Of course he'd actually been missing spending time with CeCe. The time that they'd been spending together had increased tenfold since her breakup with JFK. This was, of course, wonderful as far as he was concerned. Maddox had found himself looking forward to seeing her in classes, between classes and just hanging out. He'd even caught himself flirting with her on occasion which he'd told himself meant nothing because they were just friends. However, now that the idea had been planted in his head he found himself thinking about the two of them more and more.
Pushing those thoughts and feelings aside for now, however, he grinned back at CeCe. "Anytime. I was actually surprised that you didn't want to get right back into archery once we got back. Unless you didn't practice over the hols and are embarrassingly rusty now."

She thought on this for a moment, then decided she could still be completely honest. "Well," she began with a smile. "I'm completely willing to start up lessons again. My form is probably really bad, but I did get my own bow. Apparently my uncle on my mum's side likes archery. Who knew? Either way, I mentioned it to him and he gave me an old bow of his and some arrows. I'll have to show you!" Plus, she wouldn't mind spending more time with Maddox. He was such a great friend and she was starting to really enjoy their time together.

Still, he was happy that CeCe hadn't randomly gotten over her archery kick while she'd been away from school. It was better, she'd gotten her own bow! "Did you practice with him? Your uncle, I mean. I used to go with my grandfather when I was younger." Maddox's smile was still there. He felt lighter now, knowing that he and CeCe would probably still be spending lots of time together.

She stopped and turned to face Maddox. "I seriously can't thank you enough for what you've done for me the past couple months. It's been really..." She paused trying to think of the right word. "Brilliant." He had just been nothing but nice and supportive of her. Could she be blamed for starting to maybe like him a little bit or a lot? She took a step closer to him.

As she thanked him, Maddox tried to ignore the thoughts that jumped up in his brain. He told himself that she was simply thanking him for being a good friend. That's what they were after all, good friends. Telling her how he felt, that he wanted them to be more than that, might ruin everything. Maddox wasn't feeling quite that bold right now. "You know, you don't have to thank me," he said. "I really like spending time with you. You're smart, funny and definitely fun to be around. It's not like I'm burdened to be around you." As she stepped closer to him, he made a conscious effort not to go on about how much he liked her and how great she was.
A clever quip or joke would have been great right now, but Maddox's mind was unable to come up with one. Instead he looked at her and smiled. Yep, just keep grinning like an idiot...

She was probably doing this for all the wrong reasons, but right now? Maddox was someone she could count on. Someone who cared. She wanted to hold onto that.

He gave her a rather goofy smile before looking down and telling himself to stop acting like such a git. Say something witty! "Er... yeah. Me too." Well then, that was plenty clever, wasn't it. He met her eyes again and smiled at her.

Maybe having something with Maddox was the prefect thing she needed.

"What would you think... of well us... together?" Her voice was soft, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I think it could be fun, different."
