Sometime after the HOLS

Apr 02, 2008 23:45

CeCe was enjoying being back at school. She had missed it. As much as being at home with the fam for the hols was brill, it got boring after awhile. She missed the castle and the people in it. Well... most of the people. But she wasn't going to talk about that or think about that. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. And all that jazz ( Read more... )

Ah Hogwarts. Maddox was fairly pleased to be back. It had been an especially hectic holiday for him this year. His siblings had brought friends and significant others. There was more food and people in his home than he was used to and although it was fun, he had wanted some more quiet time that he'd gotten.

Of course he'd actually been missing spending time with CeCe. The time that they'd been spending together had increased tenfold since her breakup with JFK. This was, of course, wonderful as far as he was concerned. Maddox had found himself looking forward to seeing her in classes, between classes and just hanging out. He'd even caught himself flirting with her on occasion which he'd told himself meant nothing because they were just friends. However, now that the idea had been planted in his head he found himself thinking about the two of them more and more.

Pushing those thoughts and feelings aside for now, however, he grinned back at CeCe. "Anytime. I was actually surprised that you didn't want to get right back into archery once we got back. Unless you didn't practice over the hols and are embarrassingly rusty now."

CeCe adopted a shocked look. "Me, not practicing?! Why would you ever think of such a thing!?" she chided, lightly pushing his arm. Although, he was mostly right. She hadn't had that much time to practice. She was worried about her dad getting a hold of her vintage archery set that her uncle gave her. Who knew her uncle really liked archery too? Crispin + pointy arrows = so not a good/safe idea. So she could only practice when he wasn't around, and he was around a lot wanting to play quidditch.

She thought on this for a moment, then decided she could still be completely honest. "Well," she began with a smile. "I'm completely willing to start up lessons again. My form is probably really bad, but I did get my own bow. Apparently my uncle on my mum's side likes archery. Who knew? Either way, I mentioned it to him and he gave me an old bow of his and some arrows. I'll have to show you!" Plus, she wouldn't mind spending more time with Maddox. He was such a great friend and she was starting to really enjoy their time together.

Maddox laughed as CeCe feigned offense. When he heard that she got her own bow however, he broke into a wide grin. "That's brilliant! Now you're all set to be a professional archer. What kind of bow is it, do you know?" He laughed at himself for a moment as he caught himself being all too interested in archery. In fact, his interest in it had grown quite a lot since... well since this.

Still, he was happy that CeCe hadn't randomly gotten over her archery kick while she'd been away from school. It was better, she'd gotten her own bow! "Did you practice with him? Your uncle, I mean. I used to go with my grandfather when I was younger." Maddox's smile was still there. He felt lighter now, knowing that he and CeCe would probably still be spending lots of time together.

CeCe laughed. "Yeah, I practiced with my uncle once on Christmas, but then my dad found out how much fun it was.... And you do not want my dad to get a hold of sharp things. So we had to stop, but that's why I have you. You can teach me all about the way of the bow and arrow. It works quite well actually," she said with a grin, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

She stopped and turned to face Maddox. "I seriously can't thank you enough for what you've done for me the past couple months. It's been really..." She paused trying to think of the right word. "Brilliant." He had just been nothing but nice and supportive of her. Could she be blamed for starting to maybe like him a little bit or a lot? She took a step closer to him.

Maddox chuckled at CeCe's mention of her dad and sharp things. "Oh I'm definitely your guy for archery teachings. You were really getting good before hols, too. Soon you'll be just as good as I am, if not better." This was true, CeCe was rather driven when she wanted to be.

As she thanked him, Maddox tried to ignore the thoughts that jumped up in his brain. He told himself that she was simply thanking him for being a good friend. That's what they were after all, good friends. Telling her how he felt, that he wanted them to be more than that, might ruin everything. Maddox wasn't feeling quite that bold right now. "You know, you don't have to thank me," he said. "I really like spending time with you. You're smart, funny and definitely fun to be around. It's not like I'm burdened to be around you." As she stepped closer to him, he made a conscious effort not to go on about how much he liked her and how great she was.

A clever quip or joke would have been great right now, but Maddox's mind was unable to come up with one. Instead he looked at her and smiled. Yep, just keep grinning like an idiot...

CeCe couldn't help but smile at his response and look down at the floor. Why didn't she realize just how great Maddox was until now? Slowly, she brought her eyes up from the floor to meet his. "To tell you the truth, I really like spending time with you, too," she said softly, closing the remaining distance between them. Without further ado, she gave him a chaste kiss.

She was probably doing this for all the wrong reasons, but right now? Maddox was someone she could count on. Someone who cared. She wanted to hold onto that.

Maddox blinked a few times at what CeCe was saying. He remained speechless as she moved towards him again and then kissed him. She just kissed me! His brain was moving in several different directions and before he could really react, the kiss was over. Did it really happen?

He gave her a rather goofy smile before looking down and telling himself to stop acting like such a git. Say something witty! "Er... yeah. Me too." Well then, that was plenty clever, wasn't it. He met her eyes again and smiled at her.

CeCe chuckled. She had to admit, Maddox was kind of adorable. She smiled right back at him. "What are you thinking?" she asked in earnest.

Maybe having something with Maddox was the prefect thing she needed.

What was he thinking? Maddox was thinking about a million things at the moment. He focused on one thought and figured he might as well actually say something. "I was thinking that you're gorgeous," he said.

CeCe blushed slightly. He was so sweet and genuine. She paused to give some thought to this. After a moment, she reached out and grabbed his hand.

"What would you think... of well us... together?" Her voice was soft, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I think it could be fun, different."

Maddox felt as though he might be dreaming at the moment. This was just... yeah. He grinned at her and without hesitating leaned in and brushed his lips against hers. "Yeah, I think it could definitely be a good thing. Brilliant. Wonderful... and all sorts of other words like that."
