The Life of a Sailor, That's the Life for Me!

Yeah, yeah, follow-up entries and all that rubbish...

I spent my Christmas in Slidell.  Not too much to report there, family crap that I can't stand coupled with family members that I can't stand, but at least everyone else had a better time than I did.

I went and did my New York stand-up gig, which turned out really well.  I flew in the morning of the event and flew out the next morning, which was pretty hectic, but I had a fun time regardless.  The event was MC'ed by Gilbert Gottfried and there were six of us performers doing twenty minutes a piece.  I was fourth, and once I concluded my set, Gilbert came on stage to start hosting again when Jeffery Braun (The Pianist for the event) started playing some lounge tune, so Gilbert began singing and handed me his mic after his first verse, allowing me to sing my own impromptu verse and we closed it with a duet.  All-in-all, it was an enjoyable experience, apart from having to listen to Gilbert Gottfried sing.

Flew back the next morning so that I could do a show in New Orleans that night, which turned out well enough.  After Mardi Gras, I'm going to be one of the first performers for La Nuit's newest show featuring improv stand-up, which turned out to be easier than I suspected.  I was also speaking with Jonah and Yvonne about a new show idea which Jonah and I might start performing on Thursdays after Mardi Gras, which would be a radio-show skit completely in the dark.  And there are talks right now about my one-man show opening soon, just not too sure how much longer that will take.

Spent New Year's Eve / Day at a casino, where I learned to play craps.  By the time midnight rolled around, I had already turned my $100 into $1,000 , so I started to get a bit crazier with my betting and ending up placing a $100 bet on snake-eyes (Which pays 30 - 1) and actually hit it, netting my $3,000 on that one roll.  Left the casino with $4,000 in cash on my person.

And now I am back to living in Hammond, dwelling in my new one-person studio apartment and going to get some final-stage furnishings tomorrow.  It's a peaceful existence, living by oneself, although it can be a bit dull at times.  But that's the price that one must pay, I suppose.

I'll write more later.
