So I'm at my in-laws all day and I forgot my story notes; the ones with my scene lists and stuff. I haven't done a thing today on the story; I feel so unproductive. (Still not feeling great health-wise though). I'm kicking myself.
But on the plus side, my plot is getting crunchy for good. The subplots are materializing... still working on the main plot. I'm beginning to think it's more urban fantasy than paranormal romance (as I think of the distinctions anyway).
I did what I'm going to call a verbal collage. I took a plain blank sheet of paper and just began scrawling everything I could think of relative to OMWF all over it wherever I wanted. I had some really good stuff coming out, connections that are symbolic and things to layer in... now if only that darn plot would come together.
I'm not sure I'll be ready with a plot outline of Act I come Monday and that scares me. I do have to write a 7 page paper next week and a 10 page paper for the week after (prob said that already, sorry) so I'm a little nervous about this because I REALLY don't want to use the schoolwork as an excuse, but you have to understand this is my last semester of college and I had a 4.0 last semester, a 3.86 cumulative. I don't want my writing to hurt my grades, but I don't want my grades to excuse my writing.
So my goal for the challenge is only 150 pages, which is still a challenge to me over a two week period. (I don't write on Sundays, by the way, so my two weeks will extend beyond two actual week periods.) That's about half of a first draft. This is good because I do recall from my scene sheet I have about 20 scenes listed, which is... half a first draft, if they're about 2k each (my usual.) So... we'll see. I'm a linear writer but Fast Draft is all about stepping out of your comfort zone, so I may just have to write scenes out of order to make my page goal. Scary thought but I might just need to do it to get myself shaken. :)
