I started off my day in a particularly grumpy mood. Scott was stressing about student loans, Jeff hadn't taken out his trash, the neighbors left messy trash bins all over and there was this unbelievably annoying squeal piercing the silence as I ate breakfast (I think our downstairs neighbor kept setting off her smoke alarm). I kept finding things to perpetuate my bad mood. Isn't it so easy to do that?
As I found more and more things to piss me off (there are so many of them at work) I realized that I was letting my mood take over. I wanted to turn things around, so I started to think of all the good things that have been happening. Just trying to come up with list items made me feel better!
1. We had 450+ people at our Summer Reading Kick-off party last week (making library history)
2. My library volunteers are the bestest people ever
3. Today's event was making bugs out of food and candy and then eating them - my caterpillar was tasty
4. 75+ kids showed up to eat bugs with us
5. I finally saw the sun as I was driving home from work
6. I wore my new comfy/cute capris to the gym
7. As of next Monday there are only two months until the wedding
8. Starting Saturday I get four days off!
9. I treated myself to "banana delight" (sliced bananas, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and a dash of cinnamon) in honor of the
Fluff Debate on Capitol Hill
10. My friend (and bridesmaid) Amanda will be here this weekend!!
11. I went strawberry picking with my friend and her 4-year-old (our ringbearer) yesterday. Then I made yummy strawberry muffins.
12. Saturday afternoon was "Library Girls" hang-out time with Brandy, Mary and Leah (minus Amy because she was sick).
13. I plan to curl up in bed with a book before I go to sleep tonight
14. Only seven more weeks of Summer Reading
I should apologize to all of you now, though. I haven't been "around" much and I'll probably be MIA for a few weeks as my summer events take over. [If you're curious to see what I'm doing you can check out our
library's calendar. All the items in green and red are my responsibility, and I have to attend most of the blue ones as well.] I'll try to check in from time to time, but if there's anything you really need/want me to know email is your best bet (or leave a comment here).
