Not that I want one, but...

I had to stop for gas on my way to work this morning so I stopped at our local Sunoco station. I noticed that they are holding a contest for "the chance" to win a custom chopper from Orange County Choppers (ooooh! ahhhh!) Well, in order to get a game card you must fill your tank with at least 10 gallons of gas then take the receipt to the Gas ( Read more... )

I have a small car (or a fairly small one -- a Camry) with great mileage (~30 mpg), and a huge gas tank. I almost never fill it with less than 16 gallons! So it doesn't seem that strange to me.

I think the point is that gas tanks are getting bigger. I remember a contest like this when I had my Escort (another small tank car) and you had to fill at least 8 gallons. I can handle that since I generally put in 8-9 gallons.

Even though my car is on the older side and it has a tiny tank, I still get at least 300 miles per tank. So 30+ mpg on surface streets (I've been known to go over 400 miles on a tank before, too).

Wow. That's just a blatant excess of capitalism right there. Yick.

My small Civic holds 13.2 gallons. I usually don't get gas until I'm really low, so I always put in about 11 gallons.

I used to have a Subaru, though, and I think it only held 10 gallons, tops, so I never put in more than like 9.

That's weird since I always have to put just over 10 gallons in my '00 Saturn SL2 to fill it up when the light goes on.

Maybe they figure that people who have small tank cars wouldn't be interested in a chopper? [/grasping at straws]
