The Hobbit.

I finally managed to watch The Hobbit last night on IMAX and I am glad that I had the chance to see it on big screen. Beside the special effects and the amazing computer animations (you really have no idea where the illusion begins and where it ends, right?) the cast was great. I think I felt kind of sentimental being back in Middle Earth after ten years (yes, somehow I managed to miss part one - shame on me). I think it is awesome that the same actors from LOTR returned for the Hobbit after all that time.

We had some good fun moments with Bilbo and Kili, and my highlight was the Gimli moment in Mirkwood. Talking about Mirkwood I was fascinated with Thranduil, great appearance in my opinion, and Legolas… well, you know he is my cup of tea, right? Personally I found it slightly odd that he looked more grown up and that he was much, much cooler than in LOTR - but in a positive way. If you probably know what I mean?
Smaug was awesome and I totally see why some ladies will fall for Bard…

No surprises with the music though. Howard Shore is like Hans Zimmer. You always know what you will get.

I made some mentally notes about possible stories which popped up in my mind immediately. We will see if I will find the time to write again in the near future. Damn that real life where you have to work for a living.

Take care
C.D. Ward.
