:Torchwood: Miracle Day - Episode 1

Jul 08, 2011 04:07

So yeah!

Right off I should say, I wasn't really looking forward to the actual series, just to seeing Jack, Gwen, Rhys, and Andy, again.

The whole premise of 'death of death' and all the CIA government shenanigans, kind of put me off as it seemed just too much like political drama, or CoE and not alien involved, that I loved about S1/2 of 'Torchwood'.

But I'd decided to watch it anyway.

So was not really impressed, kind of expected more from the reviews, and all the talk. Though I will be watching the next episode.

Bold words, I amended after watching 'TW' a second time.

::EPISODE 1::

I loved Jack's 'Owen Harper, FBI'.

Gwen's paranoia was funny in a weird sort of way. Rhys, still the same, fighting for normality (I love this, even the second time around) Favorite quote: 'First sign of trouble you go running off with Captain Jack Bollocks'...lol.

Didn't really get the whole 'Torchwood' vibe from watching it. Wouldn't even think/know it was 'Torchwood' if there wasn't Jack/Gwen/Rhys/Andy. I'm hoping that changes as the series go on.

The new characters didn't impress me much either. Can't really explain it, but it may be because it's only been the first episode.

Esther, she seems really timid for a CIA agent. Not an endearing quality. There's this nervousness to her character, like she's constantly scared. Didn't care for it. Maybe she gets involved a bit more and isn't just a researcher, but right now she seems a bit boring.

Rex's-Not really impressed, yet. Got a real kick out of Jack snatching his mobile, and then telling him it's none of his business at the water tower. Though I got to wonder, why didn't he recognize Jack on the plane as the 'FBI' agent who was at the Hospital, Jack was viewable on the screen/monitor.

Dr. Juarez, not feeling her character either, but shouldn't she be trying to understand why 'the miracle' is happening? Don't much get it (i guess). Right now she just seems to be a prop.

I did enjoy the ending bit, when they (Esther/Rex) figure out (by mistake right?) that the email they received with the word 'Torchwood' happened at the same time the last death occurred (and that is surely suppose to make us wonder, if it wasn't Jack, who did send that email). Things did start moving at a rapid speed, after Rex leaves the hospital, and heads for the UK.

Rex's griping about the bridge and the toll, was funny.

As an opening episode it was good, in a way for new viewers. It gives you just enough information to get by. But as the 'Torchwood' of old it's definitely different.

I'll be watching it again on my actual television to really appreciate the big explosions, and blast scenes, for sure. And Jack's smiles...hee!

So watched it on my television, and mulled it over (again)

So the opening: Don't really like it, the heartbeat monitor reading too much like a medical drama. The original 'TW' music had a bit of mystery to it, but then again it is an improvement from CoE. Kind of peeved that they use it (the old theme) at the end of the episode though.

Kind of wished Gwen has said 'bloody Torchwood' after the nightmare, but again that's something they would have said in the old 'Torchwood'

Bill Pullman as the pedo/killer, during the jail mtg scene is creepy (still don't like the character), but the actor [o.o]

BAMF!Gwen shooting at the helicopter, would have been a way better scene without the baby, cause Eve's expression and strut was wicked.

Got to say when Gwen smiled at Jack's arrival I smiled too...hee!

And the coat, on the beach, you can tell they've used a lighter fabric

::EPISODE 2::

Looks to be more interesting than Ep.1- Only because Jack and Gwen are sure to be more visible and active -

Was wondering about Jack's mortality, and seems like they hit on that next. Cause he's mortal, now, experiencing the 'miracle' right? Not mortal, straight out and the only one who can die, which is what I thought was going to be the hook.

Was thinking, and one way I may end up really enjoying this is if at the end, everyone who is hurt, or was suppose to die the day the miracle occurred, and in the ensuing days DIE at the end, and set's everything back way its suppose to be. You know the whole restoring order thing.
