Richard leaves for Governor's School this weekend and we've been getting things together for him to take. He'll be living in a dorm for four weeks several hours from home. Yesterday was the second day of shopping for him. If he actually goes away to college, we'll already have a lot of what he'll need. So far, we've had to get
Towels, bath and beach
Sheets, pad, new pillow (sheets had to fit XL Twin!)
(He'll probably take the blanket from his bed. Bedspreads that are not quilts or comforters don't seem to exist anymore.)
Swim trunks (he's doing a water study program)
Shorts
Underwear
Hangers
Shoes
Laundry detergent and a stain stick
Debit card (loadable by parents)
And the biggest item,
Laptop computer with all the things that go with it. ( I told him that would be Birthday, Christmas, and next year's graduation!)
Still need
Alarm clock (he's impossible to wake up in the mornings)
Watch (cannot carry around his cell phone - can have it for emergency use only)
Rubber sandals or something that can get wet
Sun screen
And stuff I haven't thought of yet
Then there's all the stuff we already have that he will need to gather up.
Some things on the list he needed anyway, but otherwise could have been spread out over the next few weeks/months.
I thought this was supposed to be a free program for the students! My credit cards are groaning!
