Yet another report from Golden Rose Tourney!

Yesterday's Golden Rose Tourney was a really pleasant day (except for the heat!).   Donal had been asked by Duchess Melisande to be her  Herald, so we were set up with her team for the day.  I enjoyed spending time with everyone there.  It's a nice change of pace to be with such a group of friends.  So many times we find that we've spent the whole time at an event with the same people we see every week at fighter practice and activites night!  Her Grace entertained us with several stories during the afternoon and I had an enjoyable wait in the line for the day-board talking to young Michael.  We had enough space with two tents that the "back room" could be designated the Children's Play Area and Armor Storage.  Worked out great.

The scenario for the tournament was quite different from most events.  Everyone I talked to seemed to like it.  Not only did it honor the Ladies of the Rose, but it was a team tourney, where your team's advancement depended on more than one match.  I'll let one of the fighters explain it more.

I finally got to wear my dark red linen kirtle.  The smock was the one without the ruffs, so it was a lower-class look.  I rolled up the sleeves because I hadn't made the laces to tie the wrists or the neck.  It was cooler that way.   :-)  The lace I used in the back was from my green bodice.  That's something else to take care of.   Over the course of the day my skirt seemed to lengthen and the bodice got looser.  It was really comfortable and the shoulders actually stayed up (a problem I often have).

Dinner Saturday was with
elfsea_escapee and a bunch of others.  Eleven of us invaded an IHOP.  That was a fun evening!   As we pulled into the parking lot, someone in another car informed us that we had a headlight out.  (As of now, Sunday afternoon, it has been fixed.)

I did manage to take some pictures.  They will eventually be up on my Flicker site.

One down thing - Sunday morning I found a tick on my back.  That's the second one this season (the first was after we returned from Sapphire).

Next time we have a choice of hotels, I'm going to consider the more expensive one.  The Red Roof did not serve breakfast so we probably spent at least the difference eating out.
