Still enjoying the Ph.D, though there are still a few hiccups.
I'm still not able to get into the Library as my staff password hasn't come through yet. Ugh! However, I did manage to grab some journal articles from someone else's research to go through, so that was brilliant. And another good point - I learned how to use the photocopier! It's a pretty spiffy one - touch screen and it'll do back-to-back printing and staples where you want. It's new, so no one knew how to work it, so I had to hunt down someone who could help me lol. And hazzah! I can now work the thing!
Funny thing - apparently my desk is so 'bright and cheerful' (I have my HP calendar up and colourful files, and the little toy beanie-dragon Winky sent my is sitting on my computer), the guy who sits behind me (Matt) had to pretty up his desk too. He was having trouble with the right-handed scissors, so I cut up his last-years calendar for him so he could pin up the pictures around his computer.
While not much has happened during the week, there's a lot coming up. On Monday I'm going to the water treatment plant to see how things work on the large scale. I'm not allowed to take my own car though - I have to take a uni car. Wow - I feel so grown up! I'm glad I got some steel-caps last year during my time with the scene of crime officers, because I have a feeling they're going to get worn a lot. In a couple of weeks I'm going on a sampling trip down south. I have to collect 1000L of dam water - it'll probably take the whole week to do.
So yes - at the moment I'm going through my papers with my trusty high-lighter.
On another note - hazzah for Sorry Day!
It's about bloody time!
Old Johnny Howard refused for years and years to say the word, and Kevin Rudd said it as soon as he got in. He did a good job of it too.
