Ice Flowers 1/3

May 15, 2012 21:28

Rating: K+
Fandom: OMFG It's Jack and Dean; Jack/Dean (but only on accident. Look at the notes.)
Genre: Romance, Angst, General, Hurt/Comfort, Drama, Randomness
Warnings: Guy with guy, Real Person Slash, and so on. Just the usual from me.
Summary: Things can seem so perfect before they smash into a million little pieces. Will Jack and Dean have their "Happily Ever After"?
Disclaimer: I don't own OMFG It's Jack and Dean or Jack and Dean themselves. The title kind of belongs to the band, Eisblume.
Notes: This could be seen as a regular romance story. It just so happened that I used Jack and Dean for this one, and I'm horrible at making up names, so I'm just sticking with these two. This is another sad one. I would love to make a Romance/Humor story, but I don't have a good sense of humor.
This story has a lot of flashbacks and hopefully I don't have any plot-holes.
Each chapter was inspired by a different song. This chapter was based off So Allein by Anna Blue if you want to listen the music and read at the same time.

The night sky usually held a beautiful glow, a dark backdrop with bright specks and an ever-changing moon. This night however, the sky was clouded over, rain pattering on the rooftops and streets.

Dean placed his palm on the window, ignoring the icy bite of the glass. He stared endlessly into the rain and willed himself not to break down. His other hand reached for his neck, where a silver heart on a chain hung. He gripped the heart and closed his eyes, before tearing the necklace off and throwing it to the floor.

The brunet hung his head and the hand on the window clenched.

"What is this?" Dean asked, a smile tugging at his lips. A blue velvet box with a bow had been placed in his hands.

"Just open it," Jack replied with a small smile.

Dean bit his lip and pulled off the ribbon. He took a breath in before slowly opening the box. His eyes lit up when he saw an intricately decorated silver heart. The brunet timidly picked it up, fearing that he might break it. He looked back and forth between his friend and the necklace.

"I...I-" he stammered.

Jack grinned. "Here." He reached over and pressed a latch on the side of the heart. He then opened it to reveal a picture of himself on one side and one of Dean on the other. "Happy birthday," Jack whispered and placed a gentle kiss on Dean's cheek.

Dean blushed and fastened the necklace around his neck. "I'll always wear it," he softly said.

Dean stared at his feet as he walked beside the river. He pulled his jacket closer to himself as a bitter wind passed through. The brunet stopped and looked at a bench in front of him, faintly seeing the ghosts of Jack and him sitting together in a happy silence.

He put his head back down, the hair falling in his face and gently moving in the wind. Dean trudged on for a few more minutes before another memory came flooding back, the one that had caused the end.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dean eagerly walked along the river, hoping to get home quickly and work on his project. He was sure his face held a large smile that would make anyone wary of crossing his path.
He glanced at the shimmering river before before turning back to the sidewalk. What he saw next made his heart drop and at first, his eyes didn't want to believe what they were seeing. A happy giggle broke the silence as Jack spun his girlfriend around in his arms.
Dean thought Jack had ended his relationship with her, and now he was filled with utter confusion. Jack's girlfriend reached for Jack's hand and something on her left hand sparkled in the sunlight. Dean froze on the spot, unnoticed by the couple, before he spun around and sprinted away, tears falling from his eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was another rainy day and Dean was laying on his bed, blankly staring at the ceiling. After the incident on the river, he and Jack had a fight, finishing with Dean ending what had formed between the two best friends.

Dean turned his head and looked at the framed picture on his bedside table. In the picture, he was in Jack's arms and the two of them were beaming.

The brunet sat up and took hold of the picture, tracing a finger along the frame. Everything had been so perfect and then, just like that, it had broken into pieces.

Dean felt the anger swell up again and he slammed the photo frame to the ground, glass flying everywhere. He buried his face in his hands and let the tears fall.
