This changing weather reminds me of my own body in its contradictions. I’m hot when my skin feels cold. I’m sweating when I’m chilled.
No, I don’t have a fever. Welcome to perimenopause.
I’ve made changes to try to accomodate my body. I’m eating and drinking less. I’m exercising more. New reservoirs of energy are opening up as a result.
I’ve got two copies for Of Cuckoo Clocks and Crystal Coffins along with all my fragments, notes, and Cauldron Tales for this particular project.
The first copy is completed. It has a boring beginning, some great character interactions, distracting plot tangents, and an unsatisfying end.
The second copy is unfinished. It has a fun beginning, the plot moves fast, tying the cuckoo clock and the crystal coffin into the story with more directness, and a lot of the character interaction was lost.
I want to reinsert some of the character interaction from Copy 1 into Copy 2 without slowing down the plot. I’ve spotted some inconsistencies in Copy 1 which contradict some of my Cauldron Tales.
Yes, the latter are rough drafts I share with my readers. Inconsistencies may happen if the character change in the actual story they’re in. This is something I’m wondering if I can catch and stop.
If this was a fanfiction, I’d look for ways within story to fix the story inconsistencies. I’d come up with story to fix the story.
Why is it so much harder when it’s my own original work?
I’ve just got to keep thinking, trying, and writing. I’ve got to let myself get there.
Wish me luck.
