tuesday was an awful day. i had a breakdown and the day was a complete waste. it involved me dealing with a lot of personal issues that come up now and again, plus having to deal with my mother and dress shopping, and my dad and finances. frankly the day was fucking horrible.
wednesday however, was a complete turn around. scott and i drove up to san francisco to spend the day with our friend cassandra (and eventually her boyfriend josh joined us). it was a great day! we got up there around 11:30, met cassandra and went for lunch on the sf state campus. (tuna sandwich of course). after, we went to the mall near by just to leave the car in free parking and walked to the muni station. i think we got off in downtown, but i'm not sure. it helps to have cassandra just say "we get off at the next one" me: "ok". that easy. we walked through downtown to see where she worked and stop at a bank. around the sf state campus, it was foggy and cold, but downtown was sunny and warm.
it was getting kinda when we took a cable car to the marina but the ride helped air flow though it was really really crowded. we got off and walked to pier 39 and where the boat to alcatraz docks. we were early enough that we sat on the curb of the street and talked for awhile and waited for josh. he had class til 1 and met us there. he made it by 2:40 so we walked around a little and cassandra and i pumped ourselves with caffeine. (frapaccino in the morning, double shot around 2:50, diet coke, another mocha frosty drink, and finally a root beer. too much caffeine in one day!) anyway, we made it on the boat which i have some cool pictures from. it was windy of course and alcatraz was cold too. went all around the prison grounds trying to remember where parts of "the rock" were filmed as well as trying to stand up in the strong wind. (more great pictures)
we were there for a few hours and came back to stable land. i was cold, windswept and sunburned, but happy. we took the F line to the fairy boat building (sorry if the name is wrong) and had dinner. the food was sooo good. we walked off the food a little around the building just talking which was very awesome. we then walked up market street to take the muni back to where we started. we topped the evening off with a little dessert place near josh's apartment then went our separate ways.
once scott and i got home, well to his house, we ended up playing with three dogs. his two dogs isabelle who is some sort of terrier, toby the greyhound, and betty's friend's little tiny dog lily. these dogs are great. the little one is still very hyper with sharp teeth, but fun to play with. she's so small that she looks like a stuffed animal. a little bit of fun with doggies, some south park, then home for me.
this day was certainly what i needed after tuesday. i'm so glad that i had fun in a local city, with great company that i don't always get to see, played with dogs, saw some interesting people, and was almost blown away in the recreation yard of alcatraz. i may not have gotten a job (the last two opportunities didn't work out either so i'm saying fuck off to the working world) and this summer overall has not at all been what i wanted it to be. obviously there have been awesome moments this summer but in the big picture it was not what i expected it to be nor have i achieved what i expected to achieve. but i guess the rolling stones said it best "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need." here's to hoping they're right!
