The Rain

Even though my most recent essay was only 4.5 pages long, my tutor actually really seemed to like it! I was amazed! I also finally got my second meeting with my secondary tutorial in Japanese theater and it was AMAZING. We pretty much watched clips for an hour and 15 minutes. The subtleties of Noh dance and the character types of Noh and Kabuki are simply amazing. They're so much different from Western style acting/performance. I made a connection between the techniques and Stoic philosophy and my tutor really liked that. Horray for me!

I watched England loose their football (aka soccer) match today. It was really REALLY disappointing. They were so close! Then this rogue shot from out of nowhere goes in and England couldn't seem to get it together in the last 10 minutes to score again. So I THINK what happens in that for the fist time (maybe EVER) England will not be competing in the FIFA 2007 cup. Weird...

Then, Lindsay and I met up with a big group of friend walking home and we ended up all going out for another pint. Or in my case, a Bailey's. It was nice chatting with them all after being in Italy and not seeing them for a while. As the pub closed, we realized that it was pouring rain outside. So Lindsay and I had a fantastic time walking back home in the rain. It was actually a lot of fun! Neither of us had umbrellas, so we were soaked and our hair was a complete mess when we got home, but we laughed and joked all the way home. Sometimes I think that walking in the rain without anything to guard you against it is liberating. So fun.

Tomorrow I'll start reading The Tempest, which will be my last play for my Shakespeare tutorial. It ends next Wednesday. Hard to believe that the semester/term is almost over. It feels almost surreal. I realized that I'm kind of torn. I want to go back and celebrate Christmas with my family, but I really don't want to leave Oxford. It's been so much fun and such a life changing experience that I've grown exceedingly attached to this city. I love it. Now it's time for bed. Night night!
