Menu planning and assorted food geek stuff

Yesterday, I actually thought I was going to walk out of the farmer's market empty handed. Many of my favorite vendors hadn't braved the inclement weather, and right now the Co-op has apples, broccoli and chard on special, so the prices are actually better on those there. Then David called my attention to the potato vendor. I started to ask "What? I didn't use the potatos I bought last week." when I saw them. The first asparagus of the season. Two big bunches, a half dozen blood oranges and a flat of violas and pansies in assorted colors wound up in my basket.

Such a find called for a celebratory dinner, and so I made my first attempt at vegan crepes. I used the recipe from Veganomicon, and they turned out really well. I topped them with my new favorite cheezy sauce.  It was quite a treat.

So, Aspargus crepes, check. Last week, I was sick, so we scrapped a few meals in favor of take out and freezer stash, so there are some not-really-repeats here.

Apple pancakes with white bean "sausage" (probably Tuesday for Mardi Gras)
Veggie burgers and oven fries
Black bean soup and corn muffins
Lentil loaf, chard, mashed sweet potatoes
Stir fry/ Polka Dot Rice (K doesn't like my very spicy stir fry, so we plan on her eating a different meal that night)
Baked potatoes

dinner, food
