I don't think I've posted in about 2 weeks, so that ends my posting streak. I was doing so well too. Not too much going on since the birthday though. The kittens are hilarious and cute, although Milo is having a bit of trouble understanding that Rita's blue chair is not the litter box. We're working on that though. Viggo, in true dog form, considers the litter box to be his personal treat stash and regular goes digging for poo nuggets. The spray bottle is being used on all three boys quite regularly as I try to break them of various bad habits - like cord chewing, etc.
So on Saturday, the 11th, I dragged myself out of my Dad's super comfortable bed about 11 and drove back to Dallas, dropped Viggo off, and then went to pick up Alastair from the vet's. Selene wasn't going to be able to come home that day, because her spay surgery didn't go so well. I don't know if she just had a bad reaction to the anesthesia or what, but the vet called me on Friday night to say that she was really out of it and might not make it, so they wanted to keep her over the weekend and see how she did. By Monday she was still not walking well and they were having to syringe feed her. So Rita went and picked out one of the other kittens - Milo. He is a very sweet cat and we are both very happy with him, but it's a real shame about Selene cause she was very sweet and pretty.
Now, Alastair and Milo are from the same litter and have been sharing a crate at the vets until the day I picked up Alastair. He only had us to himself (+ Viggo) for two days, but boy was he not pleased to see his brother. For about 3 days he was just grumpy and wouldn't let anyone pet him. It's been about 10 days now and everyone seems to have settled in fine though. Viggo even gave Alastair a kiss last night while they were cuddling*. Oh my boys are so furry and sweet!
* I have a picture on my phone, but not a way to upload it. Guh - I have to get me some gadgets.
I have to say that this year was one of the best birthdays I can remember. There wasn't a lot of hoopla and I didn't do anything really big, but it was a fun weekend with some of my favorite peeps and I just felt good about the whole thing.
Mom made a great dinner Friday night and my brother even hung out with us for a while before he headed off with his friends. Unfortunately on his way out he "bumped" my car - which turned out to be about $300 worth of repairs and a week of borrowing his car, but my parents took care of all that.
Saturday I picked up Alastair and we went to the pet store where he was astonishingly well behaved. He just leaned against my chest and looked around, no claws in my clothes or anything, which earned him a lot of compliments from other shoppers. He did pretty well in the car too, but man did he not like the heat. As soon as we walked outside the doors he was crying and clearly upset by how hot it was.
That afternoon Rita got back from her mother's, so we hung out and played with the kitty until Bethany and Dena came over for our birthday outing. Now this was a lot of fun, but it didn't start out so smoothly. The plan was to take me up to the mall and get me a makeover at one of the counters and then Bethany was going to buy me some stuff for my birthday. I was totally baffled when she told me about this plan, cause makeup and Bethany are just not two things that I think of together. It was actually Dena's idea though and something I really enjoyed doing with the two of them. Even though we got up there about 7:30 we had some trouble finding someone who could or would do what we were looking for. But eventually we were helped by a very nice girl at the Chanel counter. I didn't even know Chanel had makeup, but it is very very nice. I got some lovely purple eye shadows and this lipstick that stays on FOREVER and some very nice base! It was awesome fun!
To cap the night off we ate at The Cheesecake Factory and then met some friends out at Sue Ellen's. It was just a really good day with lots of fun stuff and people. I want all the rest of my birthdays to be like this.
