So the weekend was as eventful as anticipated and all of it turned out to be pretty damn enjoyable.

The surprise I couldn't post about on Friday was that I was going down to Austin for the evening for Bethany's surprise birthday dinner. Someone from her rugby team had already accidentally emailed her about the party, but she still didn't know I was coming. Since I had to move Rita the next day I knew I couldn't drive there and back that night, so instead I took the Greyhound and slept all the way there and back. I probably got about 6 hours of cramped and semi-crappy sleep all together. My mother warned me that buses in the states are different from buses in Europe so I wasn't expecting much, but it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. There were some people who could have used a bath before boarding, though.

Once I got down there Dena (Bethany's girlfriend) came and picked me up with Bethany blindfolded in the front seat. I hadn't planned how I was going to reveal myself so Dena had her get out of the car and I just said, "If you don't get this right on the first guess I'm going to be really pissed off." She had called me on Tuesday when she found out about the party to see if I knew anything about it. I had no plan but I totally managed to convince her that not only had Dena not invited me but that I wouldn't have been able to come anyway and that it was probably her Aunt from North Dakota (?) that she was bringing in. When she realized it was me she pretended to be mad, but really she was impressed with my mad skillz!

Dena planned an excellent party - Spiderman themed! with a pinata, an apple hookah, and middle eastern food. And I finally got to meet all the friends I hear Bethany talk about all the time. I particular liked Dena (of course), her cousin Ramsay, Emily & Erik. It was an evening of good food, good people and good fun! (I am so cheesy!)

My part of Rita's move went very well, but largely because I showed up about 3 hours late. I fell asleep after I finally got home and didn't really understand when she called and told me they had the trailer and were ready to start loading. So I got over to her old place just in time to clear out the last of her stuff and drive back over to Dallas. Unloading went very quickly between the four of us and we were ready to take the Uhaul back by 3pm. It was a lot quicker than my move let me tell you. We had a yummy late lunch at The Old Monk, which is an Irish Pub in Knox Henderson. It had great ambiance (all dark and beer-y like a real pub) and good food. We had this fabulous bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert - YUMMMMM!

When we got home from all our adventures Rita unpacked while I enjoyed the embrace of the couch and talked to Joan. Then they went out to shoot pool and have a relaxing time out, while I happily slept the sleep of the exhausted in my comfy comfy bed. I just don't get how Rita can go out after a long stressful day. When I really need to unwind all I want to do is stay home with a good book, a glass of wine, and my puppy dog. But she always wants to go out after a long day of stress or activities, fortunately I did not have to accompany her this time she had another person to keep her company.

Since I went to bed so early on Saturday I was happy to get up and go out for pancakes with Rita and Joan on Sunday morning. The place we went to on Oaklawn was good, but it made all of us feel not so good later in the day. I think it was one of those old style grills where they use so much grease that one bite clogs your arteries, which means I'm going to have to throw out my leftover Pecan Pancakes.

And to wrap up my incredibly productive weekend we went to see Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix, again. Unfortunately all that made me want to do is finish reading the damn 7th book, which I still have not been able to do!
