Shakin' things up

Well I still didn't get to finish HP last night. My mom & I went out to dinner instead and by the time I'd helped her put up her toll tag and divided up the left overs it was too late to get any good reading in. Boo. Hiss.

Found out this morning that three members of our office are leaving. They're all nice people that I like so it's kind of a bummer, but since one of them is an admin it also makes my chances of getting a permanent position here better. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what goes down. In the meantime I'm enjoying bouncing around and doing a little of everything here.

Rita moves in this weekend (have I already posted about this?) and I've been moving all my crap around to make room for her. Quite a reality check to stuff all my miscellaneous, unsorted crap back into my closet. I'd really like to spend some time organizing things, but I'm a bit busy right now. I signed up to be social director for my chorus this year (which was supposed to be a small gig) and we're planning a big push to recruit new members and socialize more as a community. Which means that I have a lot more work to do than I'd realized. It's fun playing party planner and I love the people, so it's all good.

I've started to look at grad schools and I've got 2 picked out that I'll apply to for sure and I'll find a few others that look appealing or will work as backups. What I really need to do is take a practice GRE and see how much studying I'm going to have to do before I can even apply anywhere. They say you do progressively worse on these tests as you get farther from school, so at 3 years out I probably have 3 months of studying in store. Woo hoo! But I am excited to get back to the university community, even if it is only for another year or two. And since I have an end goal in mind this time I think I'll be a lot more focused on doing well in my classes.

Time to do some work now.
