Heard it in a Love Song (Marshall Tucker Band)Achy Breaky Heart (Billy Ray Cyrus)Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadows (Rolling Stones)Chapel of Love (The Dixie Cups)Rock with You (Michael Jackson)Season of the Witch (Donovan)Nothing But a Heartache (The Flirtations)For What It’s Worth (The Candy Skins)Bad Romance (Lady Gaga)Subculture (New Order) Well, that's weird. There's only one song on this list that I would say is within my usual type of music, and that I listened to regularly when it was out, and even then it wasn't my favorite of their songs (New Order). I'm no particular fan of Southern rock (Marshall Tucker), but when I was younger I had a strange affinity for songs that had that love 'em and leave 'em mentality (see also Ramblin' Man, Love the One You're With, etc). Achy Breaky is there because we were having a Women's Group reunion and my group activity was dancing (we also did The Macarena and Electric Slide). I think Bad Romance was for that party, too. Chapel of Love was for when one of my high school friends recently got married (yes, at our age!) and us high-school pals led a little line dance at the rehearsal dinner. I love the Stones song because it is all fast and soaring and trumpets and stuff, and the Flirtations because of the amazing bass line and wall of sound.
If I was to recommend any one song to listen to, I do find the Candy Skins to be a cool version of a much covered song but the only version I know that has undertones of the Stones' Sympathy for the Devil.
