This writing thing, I've got it going on
So I've completed three story drafts and am 44 words short of 2k on a fourth (which I should easily be able to get in the 5k to 7.5k range). Two are linked, the other two are completely separate. I've received some feedback on the first that basically amounts to it being a solid story, if showing more than a bit of rust around the edges. Also, it needs the cliches knocked out of it. I have a sneaky suspicion that story two is more of the same. To be fair, both are fairly standard sword and sorcery yarns and I have been reading more Fritz Lieber and Robert E. Howard than can possibly be healthy for me.
I keep telling myself that trying to tackle a novel in 2011 is a hugely bad idea, and I stand by that.
Still... I'm tempted to draft an outline for one, mainly so I can fully realize just what a terrible, terrible idea this is.
