Encouraged

So today, on a Whistler locals' online group, someone asked if there were any hiardressers around who could help them out (all the shops are closed, so this could only mean they were looking for someone to go to their place or visa versa).  I was SO encouraged to find that every single response was to say that this was not a good idea at all...even ( Read more... )

How nice to hear people saying NO to that offer. :) Gives me hope. And I have no idea why or how some people can be so unbelievably selfish and entitled to think they're above the rules... I just don't know how you can be so empty inside; how do they just not care?

LOVE your friend's going-out outfit. ;)

IMHO, some people are just “entitled”...they honestly think the rules don’t apply to them...it floors me...we live in a beautiful resort town...and many people here are very wealthy...I’ll never understand it!!! It makes me furious to see so many here! What is hard to understand about “self-isolating in your principal residence”??? My sweet husband is really steamed and is about to write a letter to the Mayor, re putting more teeth in the “stay at home” rule!!!

Yes...I wish more and more people would get it in the US but it seems to go by zones there. I think people are shocked by how quickly the illness is spreading there. Well, duh......you people are not taking things seriously enough!

I am glad that we have such strict rules right now and that the police are out in full force stopping people on the roads and making sure they have a reason to be out there. Folks from Madrid are especially bad as they seem to think it's fine to head to their holiday homes on the coast. Legally you can't do that these days...you are required by law to stay at your place of habitual residence. So, do it, people! (At least they get massive fines if they're caught).

Your friend sounds like a real character and good for him! I can't imagine a Costco with lines that long!

I’m glad you have such strict rules, too, Donna...Bob is really steamed and is about to write to the Mayor re our town getting more strict with people who want to come here during this difficult time! What is it they don’t understand about “self-isolating in their principal residence ( ... )

I hate to generalize but the Madrid people have always considered themselves especially entitled to whatever they want. Maybe it's the big city syndrome. I don't know but when Manolo and I travel we know immediately who the madrileños are just by the way they talk and their attitudes. They exude a sense of superiority and are often quite rude and entitlement just pours out of their brains.

And I have to say that we have some really good friends from Madrid so they're not all that way! But so many are.

I live in NJ and we have some of the more stringent orders. But many people, especially teens and Hasidic Jews here, just do not think that the stay-at-home order applies to them. I am not an anti-semite; it's just the facts. They have always acted as though they are above the law.

I have a friend who drives a taxi in Naples, Italy. Many were *extremely* distrustful of the government's motives in all of this, and resisted staying at home. He *still* congregates with two other friends and walks and drives around the city...for no reason. I really like him, but I can't believe what I am seeing from him, and many others there.

Stay safe!

Being the nerd I am, it makes me want to study the mindset of the entitled person and get to the bottom of it! Silly me ( ... )

I'm happy that people are finally "getting it." I'm seeing more of it here too. However, I also see people who seem to think they're immune to everything. I get really frustrated with those people. Obviously, they don't care about the health of others...or even themselves.

Your friend sounds like a lot of fun! :-)
