Encouraged

So today, on a Whistler locals' online group, someone asked if there were any hiardressers around who could help them out (all the shops are closed, so this could only mean they were looking for someone to go to their place or visa versa).  I was SO encouraged to find that every single response was to say that this was not a good idea at all...even the local young hair stylists, and there are many here, who were eager to respond to this type of post in the past, were responding that this was not a postive thing at all and that they hoped the original poster would respect the health of others and himself and practice social distancing.  More and more, people are 'getting it" and it does my heart good.

And what is it about people who think the rules don't apply to them?  Our mayor and our province's chief public health officer have suggested that everyone should shelter in place...they explain that this means to stay home in your principal residence.  In our complex, many units serve as the owners' secondary residences, or vacation home.  We are the exception as this "is" our principal residence, along with a handful of others. So, of course, we notice this week that nearly every driveway has a car in it...people think the rules don't apply to them and are coming to Whistler most probably from Vancouver "just because", rather than sheltering in place in their primary residences.

And lastly, our smile of the day, came in the form of pics and videos from one of our favourite neighbours in Palm Desert, Ca...Alan who is a character and truly doesn't care what other people think, had a pic of himself in the gear he dresses in when he goes out on essential trips to the grocery, pharmacy etc.  He's wearing a fancy leopard print mask, gloves, and a surgeon's jacket!!! He also sent us a video of the line-up of the Costco he was at that morning...the line up was unbelievably huge...it snaked around for miles...no one was dressed to the same degree as Alan but we are so happy that he is taking it as seriously as he is!  Our neighbours in Palm Desert really seem to be locked down which is great!
