The King of Broken Hearts
so, some of you have heard, but for those of you that haven't, i am now officially the University of Florida's newest Admissions Officer. the final word came through on friday, and i breathed a huge sigh of relief. the job had been offered to me las monday, but they had to do a background check, and let's just say that i've had some youthful indiscretions... at any rate, they seem to have not been a problem.
so in about 2 weeks i will begin my new job in the International Deptartment, where, in addition to doing the general Admissions Officer thing (meeting with prospective students/parents, going to college fairs, giving presentations at the Welcome Center etc) i will also be reviewing foreign transcripts to verify their accredidation/validity (apparently there's a huge black market for chinese transcripts) i'm psyched to get into that, and the other "international" aspects of the job.
i get my own office, and it even has a window! the pay increase is also substantial, and i even get a laptop to do work on the road etc. as per bo's suggestion, some kind of celebration will commence, perhaps after i actually begin on the 25th.
