I have bought a house! It is not where I started my search as it is a slightly downmarket town these days (it used to be a nice village!), but it has countryside almost on the doorstep and a short walk brings you to a chain of picturesque villages and some recommended country pubs. The vendor is buying a house in the next road (and seems nice) so the area can't be too bad.
The house has a long driveway for four cars, a large albeit not very sunny garden, a beautiful kitchen, three bedrooms, all big enough for purpose, and a fireplace which looks fairly easy to re-instate if we wanted to! Perfect :)
The process will be slow as the vendor has bought a house but the vendors of that house have not moved for 50 years and are downsizing, so we are expecting them to take their time finding somewhere suitable. I am pleased about this as it means I am not leaving the farm so soon, have more time to save up for furniture etc. and don't have to worry about slow solicitors and other problems.
There will be party invites later!
In other news I have made an addition to the Sylvanians...
