Madagascar 3
Still not as funny as the Ice Age movies. And I'm also no fan of the animation style which looks too fake, somehow. What was great was the animation during the circus performance and of course Marty's song with the Polka Dots :D
Thankfully I caught the movie in 2D, as I heard that the 3D was no good at all.
Cloud Atlas
The movie didn't quite work as well as the book where the connections between the stories were more obvious. But the make-up of all the actors more than makes up for this. I didn't even recognise every actor in every guise. Female Tom Hanks and male Halle Berry were a sight!
Also, the pictures were amazing! Especially in the last two eras (the one in 'New' Korea and post-apocalyptic). And I liked the end of the story (the last of mankind moves to another planet) better than in the book where they stay on Earth and will probably all die from the nuclear fallout or the mysterious disease.
The Hobbit
Yeah, almost 10 years after the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit draws you right back into the world of Middle-Earth. While the movie could have been 30 minutes shorter, I was pleasently surprised how well the story worked on screen. After all the Hobbit is actually just a children's book which is only 300 pages long. And this movie only covered the first half of the book.
Martin Freeman was great as Bilbo, Ian McKellen rocked Gandalf once again, Gollum was even better than a decade ago. I loved that they managed to work in Frodo, old Bilbo, Galadriel, Saruman and Elrond.
What we saw from Smaug so far was pretty cool and I can't wait to really see him in the next movie and check wether he looks like Benedict Cumberbatch :)
