Neon pink, with little white spots.

Of course it didn't come this weekend. Instead we got an email from the lawyer in reply to a request for details about expected time frame that answered no questions, but informed us of her intention to close the office for snow.

And now the dominoes are falling one by one.

It must be soon. It doesn't have to be positive, but we must hear soon. It was about three weeks last time, and I think that's around the time frame limit for expedited processing. Whatever. It's too late now, because the pattern is already laying itself out around the floor.

I have reached a point of rebellion. I refuse to be upset. I'm bigger and badder and stronger than all the disappointment and the sad and the unknowing. I will not be depressed about time passing, and home far away and having all of the stability of a well aged Jenga stack.

Not because I'm happy, mind. Not because that is happening. Just grimly determined.

There are, nonetheless, happy things: drinking deep at the wellspring of similarly minded and enthusiastic recreation friends. Research and shared resources and project concept encouragement. Priceless and precious.
Also: sewing. The satisfaction of a job well done.
And dinner and a drive with my parents, who remain both awesome beyond description and still some of my favourite people to hang out with.

A ridiculous manicure doesn't hurt, either.
