Writing Sample: Making Oneself at Home
Margo's move back into her native Suit proved to be more involved than she had anticipated. Only now, did she realise how much rubbish she had managed to accumulate over the past eight years. Swathes of undeveloped film and old college assignments had been lurking in cardboard boxes at the back of her garage. Most of it should have been discarded ages ago. She decided not to rummage through the boxes in search of recyclable materials or else she would loose her resolve to throw away the silly things she had hoarded. In the morning, she would have to take a drive and drop everything off at charity shops or surrounding art schools. Her materials had to be of use to someone; it would be a shame to let them go to waste.
Margo’s new accommodation at Club Castle was a good deal more spacious than the small apartment she had been renting in Rouenville. That was not, however, an excuse for her to fill it with unnecessary clutter. This felt like a fresh start, even though she was back in the Deck.
