So, haven't seen me in a while I guess, you poor unfortunate souls? Well, I decided to grace you with my presence once more and tell you what I've been up to, which was namely Gretchen and Katie.
Yes, that's right, I reunited for a brief but oh so sweet reunion with my Indiana crew minus one (which we made minus 1/2 becuase we made sure Abbie was represented by an appropriate "abbie" model, which was of course a small/cute stuffed dog with easter bunney ears. Yes, we outdid ourselves with that one). I arrived Thurday afternoon, hung out with Gretchen and her Germany friends for dinner and drinking (German beer = tasty) then picked up Katie, then chatted the night away. We then woke up at noon, stumbled our way to a bakery for some tasty danish and bread, then wandered around Frieburg for the rest of the afternoon, discorvering some stone giants that made no sense, climbing a church spire that had all of us winded and Gretchen slightly panikt (yes, I know, but I like this spelling better), and winding down the day with some Doner dinner (lovely lamb pita things) and drinking in a pub/restaurant/club. I got pleasantly buzzed, Gretchen got quite tipsey (or rather drunk) and we went down to the club and danced the hours away. This was where I met a lovely frenchman who gave me some lovely french kisses for a half an hour. I marvel at how easy it is to pick up some warm honey buns at a European club, I really do. SO, we made out for a while, then I had to pick up all the pieces of the rug we cut and poor frenchman's broken heart (i'm a lord-killer, I know) as he trailed after me out of the club and asked my name and if I would be there tomorrow night (to which I regretfully said Nien), and we made our way triumphantly home (Gretchen got some action too, although not as...thorough or long as mine). The next day, we were going to go to the torture museum, but got distracted by bratwarst, which took up our entire day, surprisingly. Then we went back to the apartment and made a delicious chile dinner and ended up taking the door from the bathroom down to the piatza where we had earlier waited anxiously for sausage to participate in some very odd German game show. We won, I think. Yay city of Frieburg! Then we went back to Gretchen's appartment and I watched them drink tequilia shots (I'm allergic to the stuff) while I enjoied a few glasses of wine. Then Sunday I had to sadly depart and go back to London where a Shakespeare paper awaited.
This week was exciting becuase I got sick! I blame Frenchy. and I wrote a paper! It was for Shakespeare professor who has no idea how to teach. and I went to a play! well, two plays, right in a row on one night. One was ridiculously funny (It was called the Respectable Wedding, and it was anything but. basically it was watching a story of awkwardness. Hilarious awkwardness and painful interactions)and the other...well. It was called "The Jewish Wife" and it was set in Germany 1930s. Yeah. I felt like I was being punished for laughing at the other play. I really wanted a clown to pop out of the closet and make everything better. Or, she could open her suitcase and have the allied troops pop out. With confetti. And mickey mouse. Why couldn't that have happened?! Nazis ruin everything...
Anyway, tonight I'm going to see the play Midsummer Night's Dream (no Nazis in that one, thank god) and then this weekend MICHELLE IS COMING!!! (much excitement). My my my, all these friendly vistits, aren't I a lucky girl? I plan to have fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes...the tube line...away!!
