Today I had a train adventure in South Pasadena with Ron Koertge. We went and took the Gold Line to Union Station and had lunch on
Olvera Street. The first place of Los Angeles. Like that's where the stake was put in. Everything was about the framing, when we looked at the tree in front of City Hall, and the woman with the button down suit but wearing the Betty Page pumps and from the roof the Wait. Wait. Wait. Here. Here. Here. painted on the pavement of the street below.
We met Lisa Yee
lisayee and pow-wowed at the LA Times to talk teen tent at book fest. Fingers crossed. Could be hella cool.
We three went back to South Pas and I think that South Pas is like what I imagine an Americana olden days town to be like. Tree lighting. Bands playing. Open air market. Talk of 'did you go see the High School Battle of the Bands?". Really, it is like my imagined Americana.
After going to see my play, I zigged instead of zagged and went to Social for a party that I was invited to last minute. No one could join me so I went alone, deciding to spin the wheel and play the if-I-show-up-what-are-the-chances-I-will-know-someone game. Social is not my scene. Parties thrown for Magazines are not my scene. Still, I ran into old bud from Montreal. Talked with her for one second and then found my friend who had invited me. In one of those upstairs rooms we saw one of my fave
character actors across the room. He's on Deadwood. And it reminded me that i have to netflix season two.
