But this line... this kind of broke my soul for a second before I realized Theo was all right...
It seemed as though Theo had been screaming for hours, but when Andrew noticed how suddenly quiet it had become it felt as though his whole being had snapped back into his body after floating for a bit in the haze after battle.
Andrew's worry for his friend, Theo being cheeky and wanting the bullet that almost killed him... so perfect and wonderful and harrowing all at the same time. I love the way you write them both SO MUCH.

I originally wrote that part differently, then I realized it wasn't quite right - it wasn't scary enough. Terror when someone you love is in danger is a given and I hadn't quite gotten it there.
I think Groves is Gillette's last, best friend at this point and it finally hits him when he thinks Theo might be dead or dying. (Theo already regards Andrew as his last, best friend and I think probably wooed Barbossa into pulling some strings to get Andrew on board, as it were.)
I don't know how, but I find it so easy to write these boys as friends...no - not easy - but natural. Yes, that's it. :)
Sorry to have almost broke your soul - have a cookie! ::hugs::

This was great. I loved it! I particularly liked how neither one of them would relinquish that flag. Brilliant. :) You almost made it seem like the flag was a character in itself.

I will now head off to bed with images of fluffy white wigs curled up all snuggly and warm with Jack the flag in my head... *snicker*
