Hello my dear ones! Gosh, it's been so long since I've been in here, I was almost too afraid to come in. I know I have neglected you all and I apologize. :( But when I say 'dear ones' I am sincere, you all mean so much to me and are in my thoughts more than you know.
I've said it before and I will say again...lj simply overwhelms me. Each time I think of coming in, I think to myself, "I have to update first because if I comment, there will be some who will ask how I've been or what have I been doing...do I have enough time to update and comment on everyone's posts?" The answer is usually, no, with all that goes on here. So I think to myself, "well, some is better than nothing...but what if I hurt someone's feelings by neglecting them!" :( I couldn't bear that. So I stay away...or sometimes come in just to read your posts just to see what is going on in your lives. Then I end up frustrated and feeling guilty that I'm not commenting...especially when it concerns pains in your lives or significant events. Oh, how I miss the days when I had all the time in the world for you all and Tolkien too!
Well, for those who are interested this is what's been going on with me since I last posted...
Most of June was spent working on the house and also catching up at work by putting in some overtime so that we could take a couple of weeks off. My Hubby's family had been planning a family reunion for the last two years and we found that if we worked really hard for a couple of weeks, Hubby, my daughter and I would all be able to go.
So, we headed out to California around the 27th of June and took three days driving to get there so we could see some sights along the way. Ah, we saw the most beautiful mountains and lucked out the second night with a suite on the ocean at sunset. The third day took us over the Golden Gate bridge to a lil cafe on the bay that had the most luscious seafood and then on to more mountains filled with fruit farms. Oh, how we ate that day! lol
The reunion was held at Pinecrest Lake in the beautiful mountains east of San Francisco. My Hubby's family was so loveable and I came to adore his Uncles. We played alot of games with them, did some fishing, hiked about 4 miles per day and I learned how to steer a canoe! lol And then under the disguise of celebrating all of the anniversaries and birthdays, we decorated the cul-de-sac in front of our cabins and then held a surprise wedding for renewal of vows for Uncle Fred and Aunt Silvia's 50th wedding anniversary. It was hilarious to see Aunt Silvia in t-shirt and shorts wearing a veil and a white garter, holding a bouquet of flowers! And Uncle Fred was so cute with his rolled up jeans, flip-flops and a white carnation pinned to his t-shirt. lol Uncle David ministered the ceremony so beautifully. I couldn't stop the tears as the vows were read. *sigh* Our last day was the 4th of July; we couldn't have fireworks due to the severe fire danger (there were over a 1000 fires burning in California that day!) so we had a big BBQ to include all the trout that had been caught. Mmmmm
On the way back home we stopped in Las Vegas on the first night to see the lights. We lucked into a humongous suite at Ballys for the price of a double. It was soooo luxurious! lol Then the next day we drove to Lake Mead to see the Hoover Dam. It was a bit depressing to see how much the lake was drying up, but the dam was still a sight to see! It is so big!!!
And now I'm slowly recovering from my sunburn. *blushes* I feel so dumb that I let that happen although I did use sunscreen, I just didn't use enough. Slowly but surely, the scabs and dry skin are coming off. Ouchy!
Now, I'm off to catch up on all of you! *Hugs you all tightly*
