Photos from the front

A photo-report from the historian Igor Pyhalov, who went to fight in the Lugansk People's Republic.

Small photo-report

Unfortunately, the photo-report ended up quite scarce. There are several reasons for this. First, I went there not as a correspondent, my main job was somewhat different. Second, some interesting things cannot be photoed, for this one may end up in the "clink" for real (and rightly so). Third, many fighters from our company have relatives on the territory occupied by the Kiev junta. So, there will be no photos of my comrades in arms for now.

Before the return to Russia. The assault rifle isn't mine, I already surrendered my weapon. Also, my rifle didn't have the underslung grenade launcher.

One of the APCs from our company.

Vergunka (Lugansk suburb), a trenche. An RPG lies nearby, the red thing behind is not a flag but rather a blanket. Closer to the night it got taken away by the platoon commander.

Holding my RPG. But as you can see it is sheathed - the enemy armor isn't coming out very far.

Vergunka. A veteran of the Great Patriotic War - the anti-tank rifle by Simonov (PTRS). Our sabotage/reconnaisance group went to whack some Ukies, but on the way it decided that they won't need the PTRS and left it on our position. As a result, our defensive cell was reinforced by this anti-tank weapon for several hours. And later we had to bring it back into the rear.

Bandage package, a syringe and three ampules - anti-shock, pain reliever, and hemostatic. Our military doctor forced us to carry all of this.

A bank of Seversky Donetsk, next to the settlement of Veselaya Gora. I'm digging a trench. The area with the greenery is occupied by the enemy.

In the same trench with an RPG.

"Let the enemy that is hiding in an ambuscade remember - we are at the ready, we trace the enemy"
Unlike the previous photo, this one isn't staged. Real combat work. Unfortunately, we can only trace because of the truce. But int the case of provocation from their side we'd open fire - we aren't lame.

The same place. Me and a partner made this dugout. Considering my lameness, my personal labor contribution is between 30 and 40%.
Right now there is a much more robust and reliable fortification there.

«Cats put us on our knees» ©
The company kitten (callsign of "Kent"). Right now in Novorossia there are many abandoned pets and their fate is typically very sad. In the early August this was a exhausted being with impaired coordination of movements. Right now - a quite healthy cat adolescent. Despite the suffered hunger it has a proud conduct and doesn't solicit. This proud cat understands that humans will give it food if they really want to anyway.
