bsg update: season 3 begins

Oct 29, 2007 00:40

Just finished the second episode of season 3.

Thoughts:

- First and foremost: I am not happy. I really fell in love with what this show was season one and two. This is...different. I can't place it entirely. I don't think that's it's the mere fact that the setting has changed. Perhaps it was the military aspect that I liked so much. I'm not sure. All I know is that I'm not exceedingly happy with what the show did to me at the end of season two and I'm continuing to watch because wyvern_x convinced me to keep watching (actually, I guarantee I couldn't stop now if I wanted to, but still). I'm hoping that season 3 will recapture the magic season one and (to a lesser extent) season two had.

- I'd be okay with trusting Sharon if it wasn't for the fact that she Boomer shot Admiral Adama for seemingly no reason. Boomer even said (once she was reborn) that the only reason she did it was because her 'programming kicked in'. Given that, I can't for the life of me understand how they trust her. I mean, even if they trust her (which, by all evidence, they have full reason to do so), she wouldn't be in control if whatever caused her (or, I suppose, her sister) to shoot Adama happened again. It's just...gah.

- For a few moments at the end of this episode, before I saw the previews of upcoming BSG scenes, I was worried AGAIN that they were killing off Roslin. I was worried when she was seemingly dying of cancer prior to the deus ex halfling fetus and now they make me worry again! She's one of my favorite characters! Would you people please stop making me think she's gonna die!

- Wow, Lee needs to get back in shape. I hope he loses the weight soon. In completely unrelated news, I need to start working out again this week. (It seems a fat guy has also begun a slow yet hostile take over of my body.)

- Starbuck is still interesting, though less attractive with the long hair. I thoroughly enjoyed her little game of repeatedly killing Leoben and then trying again when he downloaded and reappeared. I do not like that she's held captive to him, but of course, I'm not supposed to. I was literally gasping when she re-entered the room and Casey had fallen down the stairs and there was blood. I REALLY don't like that she grabbed Leoben's hand in a seemingly genuine show of affection when Casey woke up. I hope she doesn't start falling for her Cylon baby daddy.

Alright, that's about it for now. Please remember where I am in the show with your comments. no spoilers please (even tagged) if you can help it.

Edit: Apparently, I finished both hours of the Season 3 Premiere, not actually the first and second episode, depending on how you look at it. I've finished Occupation and Precipice.
