Cheese & Prestige

Last night, I had the pleasure of hosting the lovely trifecta of wyvern_x, phaedra_amunet, and kaali_thara for a night we deemed "Cheese & Prestige". Phaedra brought an amazing platter or various gourmet cheeses (Blessed are the cheesemakers!) with some crackers and apples as well as a copy of The Prestige.

The Prestige had been talked up to me as a movie I must see, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. The movie was incredible. If you've not seen it, get thee to a moviery! Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Michael Kane made for a very enjoyable trio. Having just seen The Illusionist a week or two ago, I must agree with Phaedra's sentiment that it's really a shame these two movies came out around the same time because they are two very different movies, each very captivating in their own right.

The cheese excited me almost as much as the movie. Hey, we're four Wisconsintes here. Phaedra provided the following:

- Garlic Dill Cheddar Curds
- Fontanella (Italian white)
- Double Gloucester (semi-hard yellow)
- Red Dragon (soft Welsh white cheddar with mustard seed and Welsh Ale)
- Sage Derby
- Bandaged Cheddar from Madison, WI (courtesy of kaali_thara)

This last one is what we have deemed "crack cheese" because its so amazingly addictive. It's a hard, fairly sharp white cheddar that I simply cannot stop eating. It's not sold in stores and can only be purchased from the artisan cheese maker in Madison who makes it, if I recall correctly. We also had some bing cherries, pink lady apples, and thin, crispy crackers to complement our cheese variety. It was truly a night for all the senses.

Cheese & Prestige. Prestige & Cheese. I highly recommend holding one of your own!
