Alright, enough politics for one morning.

My taekwondo school, Sorce Martial Arts, had a sparring clinic on Sunday, so I bought all my sparring gear and went. Sparring is clearly my weakest aspect of TKD, and I tend to get myself much more worked up and intense than I need to (depleting my energy rather quicky), but MAN IS IT FUN. I think I held my own with some of the lower belts (I was the lowest belt in attendance). I even got to go up against Mr. Sorce, the 5th degree black belt owner of the school. He's an excellent teacher and fights right around your level, so he was certainly taking it easy on me, a mere high-white belt. I have a lot to learn in sparring - we don't really practice it much at the classes at work because the rest of the class isn't really interested in sparring - but it sounds like this sparring clinic will become a monthly event!

In other TKD news, I'm up for my next belt already! I'll be testing for my gold belt on May 10. I've got my form (a formalized sequence of blocks and punches) down pretty well, as well as my holding techniques (maneuvers for breaking free of various wrist grabs) and kicking combo (exactly what it sounds like), but I still need to work on my next board break and 5 different one-step sparring moves, both of which are completely my choice.

I really wish I would have started martial arts years ago. I'm having a LOT of fun!
