My dad, talking about Cristiano Ronaldo:
"I'm going to miss his free-kicks. I'll definitely have to start watching Real Madrid matches now."
WHAT SORT OF A LIVERPOOL FAN ARE YOU?? All he ever talks about are the Mancs and Ronaldo and Ferguson and Darren Fletcher (wtf?) and ughh, it's so exhausting. I don't get him.

Anyway. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

I wish to initiate a discussion! Several of you are supporters of more than one club. How supporting more than one club is possible has always perplexed me. I don't want to come across as hostile in any way, because the only reason why I'm asking you guys about this is because I do not understand and I want to. What do you do when your teams play against each other? What do you do when, say, Cristiano Ronaldo moves from a club you really hate (being a Liverpool fan) to a club you really love (being a Real Madrid fan)? What about transfers - do you hope that one club gets a certain player over another? Do you support one club first and foremost, with the other(s) being secondary? How does it work?

I'm just honestly really curious. For me, it just seems impossible to divide my attention and love between two clubs (especially two big clubs which compete in tournaments and in the transfer market). I've taken an interest in La Liga clubs, for instance, but I just can't conjure the same kind of passion and emotional attachment that I have for Liverpool. I tried getting into Atlético Madrid matches back when Fernando Torres was something of a tot, but it didn't affect me when they lost points. When Liverpool drop points, the fucking world combusts.

I don't know, I feel as though Liverpool deserves all of my support. Otherwise, y'know, I'd feel like more of a fan than a supporter, just someone's who's along for the ride and could desert them at any time, choose another club. (I'm not saying that anyone else is like that, but I worry that I would be.) But when you only have one club, that's it, they're all you've got. You have to stick with them through thick and thin, you feel the anguish of loss so much because you have nowhere else to turn, and the victories are so much sweeter because it's just your one club against the world, and every win is a feat that you can only rely on your one club to get. Do you get the same kinds of feelings with two or three clubs? (Again, genuinely curious, that's all.)

Am I making any sense here? I don't feel like I am.

Have some amusing pictures of amusing Spaniards, thanks to the wonderful
