Part Two: In which the author enjoys revisiting her childhood haunts

We used to go to Franconia Notch every year. Camping was a cheap thing to do with 4 kids and besides, we loved it. The opportunity to be in the area again was something I couldn't pass up.
After the race we had lunch in the park with 400 of our closest Franconian friends. I think every 3rd car in the field was a Subaru. I would have fit right in :) After lunch, we made our way out to Flume Gorge. I remembered it from my childhood and really wanted to see it again. With the temperature at 62 degrees it was a perfect day for a hike.
We made our way up the trail, along the boardwalk path that was bolted to the side of the gorge, and past some waterfalls. We made sure to explore the Wolf Den which is the only thing I didn't remember from when I was a kid. It's described as "A narrow one-way path that involves crawling on your hands and knees and squeezing through rocks". Um, yeah. Squeezing is right. My damned hips almost got me stuck in there for the rest of eternity. But I came out the other end laughing my head off and really glad that I took the opportunity to act like a big kid.
Afterward, we hit the on site ice cream shop for Chocolate Lovers and Maine Maple Walnut scoops. Uncle said it was better than any birthday cake he'd had :)
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention there are lots of these signs around. Sadly, I didn't get to see any moose
