For the record: I will not vote for a woman to be President just so that we can have a woman as President. I voted against Sarah Palin as Vice President, for example, with no twinge of guilt. I voted against Hillary Clinton in primaries twice -- eight years ago and this year. Will I be glad that there is a woman in the White House? Yes, I will ( Read more... )

That's pretty much my position. I've given up on the perfect president, but I shall vote for the one whose policies and performance generally align with my preferences. The fact that this time that person just make me feel even better about my decision.

Assume the words, "is a woman" were accidentally omitted from your last sentence?

That's how I felt about Obama, too. I didn't vote for him because he is a black man. Heaven knows I would never cast a vote for Ben Carson! When George Wallace was shot in the early 70s, I was a little girl. I remember telling my parents that I felt so sorry for him that I would vote for him if I could vote. My parents explained to me that the reason to vote for someone should always be that you think that person will do the best job in office and not because you feel sorry for them. It made sense to me then and it makes sense to me now.
