For the record

For the record: I will not vote for a woman to be President just so that we can have a woman as President. I voted against Sarah Palin as Vice President, for example, with no twinge of guilt. I voted against Hillary Clinton in primaries twice -- eight years ago and this year. Will I be glad that there is a woman in the White House? Yes, I will be glad at further proof that what has long been the ideal -- that any natural born US citizen can become President -- is coming closer and closer to reality as time passes. But that's not why I'm voting for Hillary Clinton in the general election. When I read her POLICIES, and see what she has actually DONE for people, how she has VOTED when she was a senator, I judge her by her actions and vision. What she has done, how she has voted, and her policies do align closely with my point of view. They don't align perfectly. I don't think perfect alignment of opinions is possible between two thinking and thoughtful individuals. When I look at the other three candidates, I do not see by their actions or vision that they align as closely with my point of view as she does. I will vote for her not because she is a woman, but because she is the most qualified PERSON and the PERSON whose vision is closest to mine.
