this weekend was stacy's surprise birthday party in long island. we had to get up at 6:15 on friday to get to the airport by 7:15, as our flight was leaving at 8:15. jonathan got up late and had to run to the store to get stacy a gift but managed to get us there basically just in time to board, so it ended up working out well. we had a short lay over in baltimore and then flew into Laguardia around 10:30. the plane rides were just short enough to not be able to fall asleep, which kind of sucked. we had to get a cab but they said it would be, like, $90 to get to the hotel so we took the cab to the train station and then the train to where stacy's sister-in-law, nancy, and niece, lauren, picked us up. we checked into the hotel and took a nap while jonathan went to get food. then alex and i walked to the train station and headed into the city, we had to go quickly though because my mom and stacy were staying in the same hotel as us ... one floor above our room almost. and they were going to the mets game that night so we weren't trying to run into them while they were coming in and out of their room and. jon was being a lamezor and went to sleep.
alex and i got to the city and went to the wax museum. i had been there like six years ago and i knew alex was going to enjoy it. we took about 100 pictures in it. afterward we went to nathan's for lunch/dinner, hit the spot. since we didn't have an itinerary that we had to stick to, we had so much time to do whatever we wanted. we decided to walk down to central park and just stroll around. it was so nice walking into the park because the temperature dropped ten degrees immediately. we walked a little bit and decided to climb up some of the bed rock and hang out for a little bit. it was really cool because we could look left and right, seeing trees and grass. but if you tilted your head slightly upwards you would see beautiful buildings the stretched so high. it was really amazing. then we walked around towards the lake in the middle. it was really beautiful and quite romantical. but soon it started raining and it was going to be getting dark soon so we decided to leave the park and head towards central park west and take that back to midtown. all the while my mom is sending me tons of text messages asking about where jon was because he wasn't answering ... because he was asleep. ugh, she was annoying but whateverrrrrr.
when we got to midtown, we saw a ton of people on these red stairs in times square and had no idea what it could be for other than just a clutch location to take a picture of times square. so we decided to walk up them but stayed with the original purpose. then we went to the element store, just like we did the first night we were up there last year. i like that store, there's definitely some sweet stuff in there. we each bought each other a shirt (last year i bought him a sweatshirt and he bought me a dress) that were their new planet design. after the store we headed over to the empire state building, just like we did last year. it was really special going up there because last time we were up there it was a pretty monumental moment. i swear i could just live up there. the view is so breathtaking, and seeing all the sights that we got to see last year brought back so many memories. it made me wish we were there a lot longer than we were.
after that i was super tired and wanted to head home. we didn't make it back until almost midnight, and being up since 6:15 was starting to get to me. plus we had to go to the grocery store, which ended up being a really good idea because my mom didn't tell me when they were leaving the game so if we hadn't gone to the store we would've walked in at the same time!
we were picked up the next morning by nancy and went to the restaurant to set up. we actually did the majority of the setting up and making sure everyone knew what to do, where to go, when to be ready. stacy was actually surprised, which was surprising to be because she kept dropping hints that she knew and because alex slipped up while we were in philly, putz. but she was really excited and surprised by a lot of people that came. she had a great time! plus it was nice seeing a lot of people i haven't seen in a while, sadly, not many of them recognized me because last time they saw me i was sixteen. afterward we went to alan's house where stacy opened her gifts. lots of great stuff. then we watched a video of family videos that was actually just 80% alan, 15% stacy and 5% their parents. not that it wasn't a nice video, but not too many people were interested in it, especially because it was 2.5 hours long.
finally we headed back to the hotel, we were having a car pick us up at six the next morning because our flight was at 8:05. turns out, it takes 20 minutes to get to the airport, so for an hour and a half we just dicked around. then we had a long lay over in baltimore and i actually fell asleep in alex's lap haha. my dad picked us up at 12, then we dropped jon off, who had to go to work (suckkks), went back to alex's and took a five hour nap. it was a great end to a great weekend!
PLUS courtney and leif flew into town that night. we picked them up and all hung out with jon for a few hours, even better way to end the weekend! ugh, back to school in the morning, not stoked. everyone started after us. but i'm coming home this weekend because my mom and stacy will be in town. aaaaaaaaaaaand i have about 100 pages left in my book (haha finally!). so another update is coming!
