alex and i made the long (five hours!) trek to see my mom and stacy this weekend in philadelphia. but it was definitely worth it.
we got to their house late on thursday night and just went to bed soon after we go there. on friday we got up, went out for delicious breakfast and then headed out to atlantic city for the day! this was not part of the plan but i am so glad we went! stacy gave alex and i each $100 to gamble with before we even left. when we got there we met up with stacy's mom and step-dad at the tropicana hotel/casino. then they showed us around and we walked the boardwalk a little bit. its really neat that the casinos are right there on the beach. when we got back we found mimi and irv again, and irv had just won $1500, so he gave me $100 since it was my first time gambling. alex and i tried a few roulette tables but eventually just stayed at the slots. neither of us know much about poker or anything so the tables were really intimidating. before i go back i'd like to get better at some games. my mom won, like, $600 playing 3 card poker and that didn't seem too difficult to pick up. i need to play at the same table as them so i can have them help me until i get the hang of it. and since i look young and i clearly had no idea what i was doing, i kept being stared down but all the security people and one of them even carded me while i was standing with my mom haha. oh well, i'll get the hang of it soon and then hopefully will win! alex and i didn't do too well though so we threw in the towel and just went to watch stacy play. we also ate at carmine's, which i haven't been to since i was in high school and it is so so so delicious! such a good day.
the next day i went to get my hair cut, only an inch and a clean up of my bangs but my hair looked great haha! then we went out to breakfast again and then went into philadelphia to go to the zoo. so. much. fun. its the oldest zoo in the country and is HUGE! and we happened to be in the right place at the right time for a lot of stuff because we got to see the tigers play-fighting (so cool!), and three types of monkeys, or primates, playing. we also saw a cobra and two anacondas ... hopefully the only way i will ever see them. we saw some really wild birds (including horn-bills and flamingos), which my mom looooooooooooved. we saw these long haired cows and before we got up to them i was like "this looks like something i saw in scotland" AND IT WAS! so that got me pretty excited. also, in this zoo, the peacocks just wonder around, not in cages. so we kept coming up on them and that was awesome. you could get so close. and they let the tamarins run around in the trees outside of their cage when the zoo keepers were there, so there's another instance of being in the right place at the right time. we spent four hours there i think and had such a good time.
on sunday, we just relaxed. my mom and i went shopping. i got really cute tops and sweaters and i really really cute dress for the party next weekend. alex and stacy went out to eat and to get stacy a new phone. then we hung around the house, learned how to put a self-timer on the camera (a lot funnier than i can explain) and grilled out. plus we were sent home with tons of food!
great weekend and another good one is ahead!
