She eyed that one, picked it up, then moved on to the free books, the gratis ones, jumbled up in the mess of the discard pile.
Dying books in a dead place, too withered to teach anyone anything.
Depressed, she bowed her head, as if to introduce herself to these poor, forsaken things.
Something broke in her and she started to run amuck.
Frantic, she grabbed every book she could, as if to break the spell that bound these books to the trash heap.
