Repost of Sarah Palin's personal
MySpace blog:
There are a lot of rumors going around about my family and values, and I'd like to set the record straight.
As many of you already know, the McCain campaign announced today that Bristol, my 17-year-old daughter, is five months pregnant. And let me tell you, her father and I are so proud of her! After long consideration, our daughter has decided she's ready for the challenges of adult life, and she will marry the father of the child, her soul mate, in a hastily prepared ceremony as soon as I finish this blog.
Despite what the critics say, I still maintain that abstinence is the best form of sex education. Abstinence has a 100% success rate in preventing pregnancy, unless you're a whore.
The McCain campaign already knew about the pregnancy. We didn't tell anyone else about it because we feel it's our private business, just like it's our business what you do with your unborn baby.
Let me be clear: I am against abortion, even in cases of rape. Some of my critics say I'm an extremist, especially since Alaska has the highest per capita rate of forcible rape in the country, about 2.4 times the national average. While my heart goes out to those women, I have a duty as a public servant to all Alaskans. If I were to support abortion in cases of rape, it would cut Alaska's birth rate in half. And how are the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves supposed to beat those Fairbanks Nanooks in the championships if they don't have a freshman class? Go Seawolves!
Thank you for reading. God bless!
