In my bio lab today, I prepared a slide of pond water (we're doing this shit all out of order, first the rat and now this). There were a bunch of protozoa in it, a ton of paramecia and some things like giant paramecia but with flagella on both ends, some kind of interesting ribbed-like internal organelle and very active contractile vacuoles ( Read more... )

It's amazing how effective a motivator having a reason to learn something can be, even if that reason is utterly unrelated to the subject matter.

Things have a way of adding up all at once, sometimes, or at least congregating around some undefined focus point in time. Things that are both related, and not related, at least on the surface.
