So, SPN ends, and I think, gee, I'm gonna be jonesing so hard for it, I'd better get some more SPN people on my flist so I'm never short of new fic and new conversation. So I add on a few new folks. . .and promptly disappear off the internet for all of June.
Well done, me.
It's not that I mind work being busy, it's that I mind it being busy all the time. Whatever happened to having a down week once in a while? Or hell, even more than one slow day a month (which isn't actually slow since I spend it catching up on everything I've been shoving to the bottom of my to-do lists)? (And my "to-read" tag on del.icio.us just grows and grows....)
I did have a bit of a mini-break cat-sitting for the lovely
page5grrl and
emmmitt -- it's amazing what being in a nice neat space (with digital cable) and cat to pet for hours can do for your peace of mind.
Meanwhile it's my month to do SPN recs at
crack_van and I'm facing the usual angst -- so many of the stories that are my favorites are v. well-known, so that it feels almost pointless to recommend it. Take Derry's "Grandcars" for example -- hasn't been posted to
crack_van yet, and it ought to be because it's the fucking funniest thing ever, but it has four pages of feedback, so clearly it's been read all up and down fandom. Yet if I don't recommend it, I feel as if I'm being derelict.
*sigh* No one said fandom was easy.
Harry Potter tonight w/
phillyexpat -- whose apartment is mouse-free over a week now (we had kitchen re-entry last night).
Camping this weekend w/
celticlullaby on Assateague Island, where I've wanted to go ever since reading the Misty books as a little girl, and then next weekend, her HP food-themed party, and then the first Renewed Annual Schwarzkopf Family Dinner with
azriona,
lordofthechaos, and other off-line friends.
Have added
Napoleon and Me to my Netflix queue, though I have no idea when I'm going to watch it, as I still need to finish
Proof (the Russell Crowe movie, not the Gwynneth Paltrow),
the Sea Hawk, and then the
Scarlet Pimpernel mini-series, plus all of the above activity.
WTF, summer? Stop flying away!
