I'm a Quitter

OK, so, some readers might remember back when I first talked about quitting smoking. Well, that attempt didn't work. I did manage to cut down, but I never actually quit, and after awhile, my smoking went right back to being two/three packs a day.

That's a lot of smoking, btw.

However...

Something like two weeks ago, I finalized plans to go visit LdDurham in Cali, with a bit of time in Vegas. L's a non-smoker, and so's her household. That would have put me in a non-smoking environment for a week. Yeesh! An entire week spent stealing a drag off a cigarette whenever I could, stepping out onto the deck or front porch, heading outside the hotel or down to the casino floor for a quickie, biting my nails and fidgeting because something's taking too long and I can't enjoy what I'm doing because I'm craving a cigarette? Crap!

Every other trip I've taken, I've spent huge amounts of time away from my group, or not having as much fun as I could have been, because I've been distracted by the nicotine. And, yeah, it let me get chummy with the concierges and bellboys at the hotel in Seattle, but other than that, I think I can say that I could have had more fun if I hadn't been a smoker.

So, I'm no longer a smoker. My last cigarette was a week ago yesterday. And since every day without a cigarette is a day that's easier to get through, since I've weathered the worst of it, and since my next trip hasn't happened yet, I think it's safe to say: I'm a quitter. I'm a stopped smoker.

I quit smoking. Yep, I quit. I'm a quitter. I'm a non-smoker. I'm smoke-free. When I go to restaurants and they ask me if I want smoking or non-smoking, the answer is... NON-SMOKING! Hah! Because that's where non-smokers go! A non-smoking quitter, that's me!

(I'm having a lot of fun saying that, can yall tell?)

That doesn't mean I'm going to get rid of my icon, because that's Asami with a cigarette in his mouth, and Asami is a Super-Seme, the kind of seme that can put other semes on their back with their legs spread wide-open, and he's my hero. So the icon stays.

But, I just wanted to brag a bit. I'm a quitter. I've earned the right to brag a bit.
