Fourth Seal

... You know, it's really bizarre how memories just suddenly come back out of nowhere.  Especially since I haven't done anything strange or outstanding.

Anyways, it turns out I was a fighter back home.  Close combat though...  And I fought with... cards?  Why would I choose cards of all things?  But now that I know that, I can start getting back ( Read more... )

Cards. Ofuda? There was a boy here who used to prattle on about something called a Clow Card. He himself would attack with ofuda -- striking them with his sword to release the magic within.

I don't recall any unicorns, but I expect that would be because he died in your time. I may be wrong.

Maybe? Never heard of a Clow Card before though... And I just used the cards to fight with. Seriously. I remember slitting slitting this Desian's throat with one.

... Someone... Kratos I think? Kratos said that a new one was born the instant the unicorn died. Maybe it was in hiding.

Recognize any of the other things though? Chosen of Mana or Martel?

That's certainly interesting. Although. I do have some vague memories that when I wasn't summoning Spirits, I was . . . bashing enemies over the head with my textbooks.

Hm. It's possible I simply haven't remembered it. I wouldn't doubt that we'd met one, though, if the situation was as dire as I remember it to be. As for Chosen of Mana . . . no, nothing rings a bell. But Martel is the Spirit of the World Tree, Yggdrasil. Perhaps Colette resembled her in some way.

. . .

Although. The World Tree wouldn't have been planted yet, would it?

[Snickers a little] That's gotta hurt.

I don't know. I guess not. [Frowns, thinking]

Emil mentioned that Martel was some sort of goddess, worshiped by the Church of Martel. But the Church was corrupt, so I don't know how valid that is.

The unicorn said that Colette was Martel... but he said that he was blind. He was just going by, uh, "presence" and "sickness". Whatever that means.

Maybe I'll figure it out later once I remember more.

Martel . . . She must have existed in some form before Yggdrasil was planted. This may be your goddess. Or perhaps the spirit borrowed the name from her. It may simply be a case of two identical names. Although that doesn't happen often . . .

The Chosen of Mana . . . Now that I think about it. That was Colette, wasn't it? She was here before. And both she and Lloyd mentioned that she was chosen for some reason -- To save the world.

... Maybe they're one in the same? Like... after your World Tree was planted, Martel came down to protect it? [Shrugs helplessly]

The Chosen of Mana saves the world... Wonder if she had any say in it...

Another possibility. I don't suppose we'll know for sure until the two of you remember more.

Somehow, I get the feeling she didn't. Despite how cheerful she was, Colette always seemed to bear a great burden. That's the problem with being Chosen, I guess.

Well, I'll let you know if I remember anything else on that front. Heh, seems like I'm telling you a lot of things I remember.

... [Really doesn't know what to say to that.]

Thanks. Doesn't seem like anything I remember will be of much interest to you, but you can hear it anyway, if you'd like.

Ah. I guess I should probably mention the time-traveling thing first. I was supposed to be traveling 100 years to the future to help some friends of mine.

How the hell did you manage something like that?

No idea. All I remember -- Cless and Mint. They were from 100 years in the future. They'd traveled to the past to recruit magicians in order to defeat some sort of world-destroying threat.

So, lemme get this straight. 100 years after you were born, there's this huge end of the world thing. Two people decide to do something about it, and travel 100 years into the past on the off chance that they'll find someone who would actually not think they're crazy and help them. They find you, and bring you 100 years into the future to fight the approaching evil.

... I'm not sure who I think is nuts. Them, for even trying something like that and thinking it would work, or you for going along with it.
