Hi all! I made it back from New Zealand! I had soooo much fun! The first three days it was just me, Tiffanie, and Jene! We got in late, so spent the first night in Christchurch, and then rented a car and headed up to Kaikoura for the next three days. This was the prettiest town, right on the water and huge mountains as a backdrop! We went on a wine tour while we were here, which was fun. We also went ATVing around a guys farm, which had the most beautiful views! Whale watching was my favorite thing we did here, we got realllllly lucky and saw 3 sperm whales and a huge pod of dolphins!
The next days we met up with 4 other friends, rented a van, and drove all across the south island!! Our first adventure was black water rafting, which is supposed to be rafting through caves, however we were slightly let down. We basically floated down a river and then went into a cave for 5 minutes. The next day was also unfortunate, we were supposed to go on a glacier climb, however it was raining so it got cancelled. Instead, we drove to Queenstown and spent three days here! It was so gorgeous!! The first day we took a gondola ride up to the top of the mountain, where we could see an awesome view of the towns, mountains, and lakes around. There was also a luge run we could go down, so we did that 6 times! So fast!! The next day was absolutely crazy and intense! We woke up and did a canyon swing, which is your up 109 meters, and you jump off the cliff any way you want and you are connected to cable which lets u drop and then swing a little bit. I went off by leaning on the edge in a chair until the chair tipped and I fell backwards! I fell for 60 meters, and was flipping up and down. Next, we went on a jet boat through the canyons, where the boat would get inches away from hitting the rock walls. Afterwards, we took a helicopter ride to the top of the mountain, which was absolutely gorgeous, and then white water rafted down it. We went through class 2-5 waters, and our guide was really cool so he let us do some fun stuff! The last day we got up really early to go to Doubtful Sound. Again, it was gorgeous, with huge mountains all around through the waters. It kinda reminded me of the San Juan Islands, except on steroids.
Our last few nights we drove around seeing the sites and we ended up sleeping in the airport the last night since our flight was at 6 am! ew! Overall, a veryyyy fun time!!
