Today was a sad day. I found out my awesome roommate Korin won't be coming back next year - or next quarter for that matter. I will miss her dearly. And in the meantime, I have to rush to find a new place to live next year. The Colleges are great, but I look forward to a change of scenery. I'm so used to my family moving around SoCal, that it doesn't feel right staying in the same place for any long period of time in Davis either. I was thinking about it the other day and realized I don't consider anywhere 'home.' People ask me where home is, and I honestly don't know what to tell them. It's kind of sad, but I'm strangely ok with it. Learning to accept and anticipate change in your life is a pretty good coping mechanism and I'm glad I've learned it at a young age. Here are all the places I've lived throughout my life, and each one a little less convenient than the one before...
Born - Carrollton, TX (1986-1990)
Moved to - Agoura Hills, CA (1990-1995)
Parents divorced - 1995
Mom moved to Westlake Village, CA (1995-2003)
Dad moved to Calabasas, CA (1995-1998)
Dad moved to Kester St. - Sherman Oaks, CA (1998-2004)
Mom moved to Santa Clarita, CA (2003-2005)
I moved to Cuarto dorms - Davis, CA (2004-2005)
Dad moved to Benefit St. - Sherman Oaks, CA (2005-present)
Mom moved to Banning, CA (2005-present)
I moved to the Colleges at La Rue - Davis, CA (2005-present)
I will probably be moving elsewhere in Davis soon (2006-???)
As you can see, 'home' is an ambiguous and unpredictable concept for me. Hopefully one day I'll find it.
